lyrics

This song is a story, her name was Dorie, but
under her veil lied another kind.
She tries to avoid it, but it’s too hard and
maybe a stint can give her peace of mind

She rose through the ranks next to those just like her,
meeting the people we warned about.
It pains me to say this, we went too far and
and that’s when her feelings fired bottom out:

I know they’re staring from there,
they’re wondering what I’m up to,
but I’ll never answer, so they won’t know and
what does it matter if I carry on.

She was born and was raised in a uniform but
we failed to add she could take it off.
We should’ve told her, it was no bother!
Help had lead to spiritual death.

Why was I born into this confusion?
Why was I brought in the way I am?
What could’ve caused me to question Dorie,
What did I do to deserve this fall?

I know they’re staring from there,
they’re wondering what I’m up to,
but I won’t answer, so they won’t know and
what does it matter if I carry on.

So that’s why this march’s only meant for Dorie, a
relic abandoned so long ago
To others, who left yet another story,
to us what a wonder lost to time.

I know they’re staring from there,
they’re wondering what I’m up to,
and I wanna answer, so they can know!
And it really matters if I carry on.
